‘Marilyn’ returns home for a post-pandemic boost
PALM SPRINGS – The well-traveled Marilyn Monroe statue may have found a permanent home.

The 26-foot high statue was a downtown tourist delight on Palm Canyon Drive until the owners decided to take it on tour in 2014.

After leaving Palm Springs, the statue returned to New Jersey as part of a retrospective of the late sculptor’s work. It also traveled to Bendigo, Australia, and Stamford, Conn.

The tourism promoters, PS Resorts, have paid $1 million for the statue. It’s to be installed on Museum Way near the city’s art museum on April 25th.

Although not at its original location, backers hope “Marilyn” will give downtown businesses a post-pandemic boost.
