PMI: Optimism over steady economic recovery
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – New statistics suggest that the region is getting back toward solid footing as the economy recovers from the coronavirus pandemic.

The monthly Purchasing Manager’s Index issued Thursday by the Institute of Applied Research at Cal State San Bernardino indicated steady growth in the manufacturing sector and the economy as a whole.

The Production Index increased. The New Orders Index had a decrease which means that new orders are still increasing, although at a slightly slower pace than last month. The Employment Index also increased.

Forty-four (44%) of the Purchasing Managers predicted that the local economy will become stronger in the upcoming months (up from last month’s 35%), and 37% believe that the state of the local economy will remain unchanged. In summary, the institute believes “optimism is increasing that the effects of the pandemic on the economy are easing, and the local economy is in recovery.”
