Toll lanes spell relief for I-15 commuters
CORONA – (INT) - The 15 Express Lanes in Riverside County opened Saturday, April 10th.

The 15 Express Lanes project adds two tolled express lanes in each direction on I-15 between Cajalco Road and Route 60, a distance of approximately 15 miles.

Drivers are able to enter and exit the tolled facility at multiple locations, the Riverside County Transportation Commission said.

Construction began in March 2018 adding two lanes in each direction from Eastvale and Jurupa Valley, through Norco to Corona.

The estimated cost of the 15-mile project was $455 million, but did not require extensive land acquisition.

The project widened 11 bridges and added six sound walls.

Funding was provided by Measure A, the voter-approved half-cent sales tax for transportation improvements in Riverside County, and federal sources. Toll revenue will be used to repay a $152 million federal transportation infrastructure loan and to operate and maintain the lanes. During design and construction, 3,300 jobs were created.
