Land purchase key to Riverside mobility hub
RIVERSIDE – (INT) - A new mobility hub in downtown Riverside just moved one step closer toward reality.
The Riverside Transit Agency’s Board of Directors has approved a plan to purchase a half-acre parcel off Vine Street that would essentially complete the footprint needed for a future transit center. The acquisition of the property would enable RTA to build the project on a total of approximately 4.7 acres. RTA is using $405,000 in Transportation Uniform Mitigation Fee (TUMF) funding to finance the purchase.
The Vine Street Mobility Hub is expected to play a significant role in RTA’s operations, offering customers access to a variety of RTA routes as well as connections with other transit providers, including Omnitrans buses and Metrolink trains. Construction is scheduled to begin January 2022.
