Congressional reps voice opposing views on Biden speech
WASHINGTION – (INT) – Two Inland Empire representatives in Congress offered opposing views on President Biden’s Wednesday night speech before Congress.
Corona Republican Ken Calvert, the region’s senior member in Congress declared “President Biden is pushing a $6 trillion agenda full of Democrat’s pet projects without accountability and little transparency. Even worse, their infrastructure plan would spend 94% of the money on things other than building roads, bridges, and highways. The Inland Empire region needs real infrastructure solutions.” Calvert complained that “The first 100 days of the Biden administration has thus far been a betrayal of his pledge to work in a bipartisan manner.”
Riverside Democrat Mark Takano said President Biden is a compassionate leader who “will take bold, necessary action to help our country bounce back from this crisis and lift up every American. Tonight, President Biden laid out a clear vision for his first term and the steps we need to take to help our country recover from the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. His goals to tackle our country’s concurrent crises and deliver much needed relief to struggling families, workers, small businesses, and communities are bold and ambitious, and we will achieve them by working together.”
Governor Gavin Newsom said President Biden’s American Families Plan “will bolster California’s equitable economic recovery and bring us roaring back.”
