Southern California’s largest wildfire nearing containment
JULIAN – (INT) – Firefighters are getting a noose around Southern California’s largest wildfire of the year.

Calfire has managed to surround more than 90% of the so-called Southern Fire east of Julian on the edge of the Anza-Borrego Desert.

During its 5,366 acre rampage, the fire consumed three single-family homes and two outbuildings.

Evacuation orders have been lifted for the Butterfield Ranch camping area and road closures long Highway S2 have been lifted.

The cause of the wind-blown fire that broke out Saturday has not been disclosed.
