2021 may restore most of region’s pandemic job losses
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – There’s another positive outlook for the region’s post-COVID economy.

Senior economist John Husing estimates that the Inland Empire lost 65,600 jobs in 2020 or about 4.19%. Most were job sectors in lower-paying categories. “This has exacerbated the area’s income inequality,” Husing said.

Going forward, Husing predicted the IE will regain 62,400 jobs this year. That could bring employment within 3,200 jobs below the 2019 level or just over 1.5 million.

Growth in logistics, construction and health care will lead the way back, Husing said.
