MWD: Water supplies will continue even in drought years
LOS ANGELES – (INT) – The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) says it can meet expected water demands even under drought conditions for the next quarter century.

The announcement follows adoption Tuesday by the board of directors of MWD’s Urban Water Management Plan.
Anticipated water demands and supplies through 2045 show the district will meet demands under normal water years, single dry-years, and five-year drought sequences.

The centerpiece of MWD’s reliability plan is a portfolio of water resources, including imported supplies from the Colorado River and State Water Project; local projects offering water recycling and groundwater recovery; short- and long-term water transfers; and storage, both inside and outside of the region.

MWD says it will continue investing in water-use efficiency measures to help lower demands across the region.
