Local health officials stay the course over COVID-19 masks
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) - County officials and many business owners are hesitant about dropping coronavirus mask mandates. California officials decided to keep the mask mandate until June 15th.

On Thursday, the Centers for Disease Control declared that masks were no longer required, indoors or outdoors, for fully vaccinated people except on airlines and busses.

Across the Inland Empire, signs remain prominently displayed at supermarkets, gas stations, convenience stores and many retail shops requiring masks and social distancing. Most patrons are observed complying and there have been no reports of the masking law being enforced.

Meantime, Riverside County health officials have begun vaccinating young people down to the age of 12. They are expanding the eligibility for those who want to get vaccinated to those 12 and older, effective May 13.

Vaccine eligibility is open to more than 140,000 of Riverside County youngsters.
