Freeway shootings intensify, CHP urges public input
ANAHEIM – (INT) – Random shootings along the 91 freeway are becoming more numerous as the California Highway Patrol (CHP) steps up its investigation.

Another eight vehicles have become targets of BB or pellet gun projectiles that have shattered the windows of dozens of vehicles in recent weeks. At least fifty-five incidents have been reported in recent weeks mostly on the 91 freeway in Riverside and Orange counties.

There has been one minor injury.

Initially, the incidents began on the 405 freeway in Los Angeles County.

Investigators theorize the shots have come from another vehicle or vehicles. They are comparing notes in hopes of gaining a description of a suspect.

Motorists are encouraged to promptly report the incidents.

“We are taking each of these incidents seriously and actively searching for those responsible. The public should still feel safe while driving their vehicles on our California freeways,” said CHP Border Division Assistant Chief Donald Goodbrand.
