Winners in Riverside City Council election will serve 5-year terms
RIVERSIDE (INT) At least two of three Riverside City Council seats up for election Tuesday will be filled by the incumbents and a third may advance to a November run-off.

Jim Perry was unopposed in the Sixth Ward and Chuck Condor appears to have held off a challenge from Monrow Mabon.

In Ward 2, Clarissa Cervantes took 53% of all votes cast among six candidates. Joe Paredes polled a distant second. Incumbent Andy Melendrez did not run for a fifth term.

Election officials said late Tuesday night, there approximately 1,500 vote-by-mail and 50 provisional ballots still to be processed.

Seventy-thousand vote-by-mail ballots were issued.

For the first time, the winners will serve 5-year terms because the city is switching to even-year elections.
