Rising gasoline prices defy past trends
SOUTHLAND – (INT) – Gasoline prices keep outdoing themselves, but industry observers believe the run-up has about run its course.
Pump prices – statewide - are now at their highest levels in 13 years at $4.22 for a gallon of 87 octane regular. In Riverside, it’s $4.17 which is $1.24 higher than a year ago.
Price averages are now at their second highest levels ever recorded in the month of June in California.
The Oil Price Information Service reports more imported fuel is arriving in California and refineries have almost ended up their planned maintenance.
“Those factors should push down pump prices soon,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring.
