Study: California ranks high in safe pandemic recovery
California is the nation’s third-safest state – nationwide - in its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

WalletHub used five key metrics in determining that the top-5 safest states are, in order, Vermont, Massachusetts, California, Hawaii and Connecticut.

The criteria included the rates of COVID-19 transmission, positive testing, hospitalizations and death, as well as the share of the eligible population getting vaccinated.

The five least-safest states are Wyoming, Florida, Georgia, West Virginia and Montana.

WalletHub noted that safety is essential for getting the economy back on track, as the lower COVID-19 transmission and deaths are in a state, the more that state is able to eliminate restrictions on businesses.
