IE returns to work pushing down jobless rate
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – The region’s jobless rate is now half what it was a year ago when the pandemic gripped Riverside and San Bernardino counties. There has been a slow but steady decline since the beginning of the year, down to 7.2 percent during May.

The State Department of Employment Development estimates that Riverside and San Bernardino counties added 134,500 jobs over the past 12 months with trade, transportation, warehousing and utilities leading the way.

More people went back to work in food services, arts, entertainment and recreation.

The Inland Empire’s unemployment rate matched that of California but was higher than the national rate of 5.5 percent.
