Palm Springs becomes home for “Forever Marilyn”
PALM SPRINGS – (INT) – “Forever Marilyn” is back and here to stay.

The 20-foot high statue that attracted tourists to the downtown area and then went on tour will have a permanent home near the Palm Springs Art Museum.

"Forever Marilyn" spent almost two years in the city there from 2012 to 2014.

Ms. Monroe lived in 43 different homes during her lifetime including Palm Springs – while some belonged to her lovers and her husbands, most were rented.

An unveiling ceremony for the sculpture by Seward Johnson was held Sunday.

Those attending were asked to wear white, the color the actress wore in the “Seven Year Itch”, a 1955 romantic comedy film. Her final comedic film performance “Some Like It Hot” was released in 1959 before her death in 1962.
