Budget trailer bill saves the day at KVCR
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) - KVCR-TV-FM are getting a new lease on broadcasting life.

A state budget trailer bill dedicated to education funding has been approved by state lawmakers. It provides $4,015,000 to the San Bernardino Community College District (SBCCD) to continue the operations of KVCR radio and TV.

KVCR was at risk of funding cuts that could have resulted in the loss of PBS and NPR programming.

Assembly Majority Leader Eloise Reyes (D-San Bernardino) noted that “SBCCD is one of the only community college districts in the country to have its own public service media outlet, and the benefit to our community through educational programming, news and public service information is invaluable.”

KVCR-TV was the first PBS station in southern California, the second one in the state. KVCR (91.9FM) has been serving radio listeners in the Inland Empire region for over 60 years.

KVCR-TV FNX provides the only television channel in the United States devoted to Native American and World Indigenous content.
