Exposures and infections rise for the unvaccinated
SACRAMENTO – (INT) – New COVID-19 data is raising concern for unvaccinated Californians.

With the emergence of the more transmissible Delta variant, there is a renewed urgency to get all eligible Californians vaccinated as quickly as possible. Those receiving Pfizer or Moderna are urged to complete their 2-dose vaccination process.

Since the beginning of the year, cumulative COVID-19 cases have occurred almost exclusively among unvaccinated individuals, at 99%, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) reports.

The CDPH adds that transmission continues to increase among those who are unvaccinated and will likely get COVID.

Health officials stress that COVID-19 vaccines are safe, free and provide excellent protection from severe COVID-19 illness, including the Delta variant.
