Origin of University Fire attributed to a flat tire
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) – Wednesday's University Fire was started by sparks from the rim of a vehicle's flat tire on the nearby I-215 freeway, authorities confirmed Thursday.

Residents are back in their homes after being rousted by the 71-acre wildfire on the city’s perennial hotspot – Little Mountain.

About 100 homes were threatened. Twenty-three patients were evacuated from a dialysis center. The evacuation area affected homes east of North State Street, south of and including residences on Morgan Rd, west of and including Pepperdine Dr south to Grossmont Rd.

A coordinated air and ground attack brought the University Fire to a standstill about 5 hours after it was reported.
