Effects of heavy-duty diesel truck emissions to be studied
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – Vehicle emissions caused by the movement of freight and other goods throughout the Inland Empire’s Metro area is about to undergo a thorough study on its impact on public health and the environment.

UC Riverside’s Center for Environmental Research and Technology will receive $2 million under a program announced Thursday by California Attorney General Rob Bonta.

The grant stems from a 2016 settlement with Volkswagen over its emission cheating scandal.

The project will focus on those communities most disproportionately burdened by heavy-duty diesel truck emissions from freight corridors and freight-related sources.
