Celebration of Life for Moreno Valley’s Victoria Baca
MORENO VALLEY – (INT) – There was a Celebration of Life for Mayor Pro Tem Victoria Baca. It was held Monday at the Civic Center Amphitheater.

She died October 6th after a long illness, according to a city hall statement.

In 2012, she was the first Latina elected to the City Council and was in her third term. She was also the first Latina to serve as a member of the Moreno Valley school board and on the March Joint Powers Commission.

"Victoria Baca exemplified what it meant to be a true public servant. She brought knowledge, compassion, enthusiasm, and a genuine love for the community to the City Council," said Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez. "As she battled her illness, she continued to connect with and serve the residents of District 1. It was a testament to her unwavering dedication to Moreno Valley."

Moreno Valley's iconic M on Box Springs Mountain will be lit red, white, and blue until Friday, October 22nd in remembrance of Mayor Pro Tem Victoria Baca.
