California prepared for coronavirus booster shots
SACRAMENTO – (INT) – State health officials will wait until the federal approval process is complete before turning on the green light for Moderna and Johnson & Johnson booster shots against the coronavirus.

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) wants formal authorization from the FDA and recommendations from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) at the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup.

In a statement issued Friday, the CDPH said it’s “prepared to administer boosters immediately for all vaccine brands to those who are eligible.” Initially, that will include those over the age of 65 and others with compromised immune systems
