‘Uplift San Bernardino’ celebrates new, all-electric housing community
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) – Waterman Gardens, once known for its criminal element and deplorable living conditions, has been torn down and transformed into a new, affordable housing community.

Crestview Terrace is opening in the Waterman-Baseline neighborhood with 184 apartments.

It is powered by a system of photovoltaic solar panels that will off-set about one-third of the project’s total energy use.

Crestview Terrace was funded in part by a grant from the California Strategic Growth Council, the first grant of its kind in the Inland Empire. The grant also provided over a million dollars in public and transit improvements for the local neighborhood. It was part of a citywide reinvestment initiative called Uplift San Bernardino.
