Premium grade gasoline leading price increase, Auto Club says
SOUTHLAND – (INT) – California continues to lead the nation in the cost of gasoline but some states are closing the gap.

As the nationwide average reaches a record $4.42, the average price for a gallon of 87 octane regular in California is $5.85, a gain of 9-cents the past week.

In Riverside, it’s $5.81 a full $1.74 above a year ago.

The Oil Price Information Service says the Phillips 66 Wilmington refinery has been undergoing planned maintenance for nearly a month, keeping upward pressure on local prices.

The Automobile Club notes that the run-up in premium grade gasoline is even more steep compared to regular grade.
