Population trends shifted during pandemic’s first year
SOUTHLAND – (INT) - The Census Bureau is out with its first city-by-city population estimates this decade. In California, the gainers and losers among the largest cities are quite evident.

In just a 12-month period, the Bay Area posted California’s biggest losses. San Francisco was down 6.3% and San Jose lost 2.7%

Riverside was California’s second-fastest gainer increasing its population 8-tenths-of-a-percent to just over 317-thousand. Irvine led the way at 9-tenths-of-a-percent.

The estimates were as of July 1st, 2021.
