Former Adelanto city official convicted in corruption scheme
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – Jermaine Wright, the former mayor pro tem of Adelanto and now a resident of Riverside, has been convicted in federal court of accepting a $10,000 cash bribe.

The conviction stemmed from a 2017 probe into corruption in Adelanto.

Wright was also convicted of hiring an individual to burn down his restaurant to collect thousands of dollars in insurance proceeds.

During the investigation, law enforcement used an informant who introduced Wright to two undercover FBI agents and recorded a series of conversations in which Wright discussed both plots.

Wright is facing a mandatory 5 years in prison when he returns to federal court in Riverside September 12th for sentencing.
