Will California become a magnet for abortions?
SACRAMENTO – (INT) – In the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision striking down Roe v. Wade, Governor Newsom signed a bill Friday that protects those in California from civil liability for providing, aiding, or receiving abortion care in the state.

“California must do everything it can to protect the fundamental rights of all women – in California and beyond,” said Newsom.

He noted that states like Missouri “are already targeting women seeking abortions in places like California where abortion remains legal.” Newsom said he wants to send a clear message that “California will continue to be a safe haven for all women seeking reproductive health care services in our state.”

Meantime in Washington, a bill has been introduced to exclude employers from receiving tax breaks if they provide abortion access to their employees.
