A new tool in California’s gun safety belt
SANTA MONICA – (INT) – California now has the nation’s first law allowing individuals to sue those spreading the circulation of illegal guns.

Under SB 1327, Californians may take to court those making, selling, transporting or distributing illegal assault weapons and ‘ghost guns’ and seek damages of at least $10,000 per weapon involved.

The same damages can also be sought against gun dealers who illegally sell firearms to those under 21 years of age.

Governor Newsom was at Santa Monica College Friday to sign the law. There was a mass shooting at the campus in 2013 claimed the lives of six people including the gunman.
