Novavax added to front line coronavirus protection
SACRAMENTO – (INT) – Californians determined to stay ahead of COVID-19 have a third vaccine choice.

State health officials are endorsing the new Novavax vaccine. It uses protein-based technology instead of mRNA found in the Pfizer and Moderna injections.

Novavax meets FDA’s standards of safety and efficacy that are required when receiving emergency use authorization.

Novavax is given in a 2-dose regimen three to eight weeks apart, to individuals ages 18 and older.

Officials say it will be available in a few weeks.
