Next California Supreme Court justice named
SACRAMENTO – (INT) - Governor Newsom has nominated Supreme Court Associate Justice Patricia Guerrero to serve as California’s next Chief Justice.

She would succeed Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye upon completion of her current term of office on January 2, 2023.

A first-generation Californian, Justice Guerrero was the first Latina to serve on the California Supreme Court and, if confirmed, will be the first Latina to serve as California’s Chief Justice.

Raised in the Imperial Valley by immigrant parents from Mexico, Justice Guerrero, 50, resides in Coronado.

Compensation for this position is $293,286. She is a Democrat.
