California takes steps to expand children’s mental health services
FRESNO – (INT) – California has a ‘Master Plan for Kids’ Mental Health.

Officials say kids are displaying symptoms of depression and anxiety at record rates and attempted suicide is at historic levels. It’s estimated that one-third of 7th and 9th graders and half of high school juniors experienced chronic sadness last school year.

Governor Newsom was in Fresno Thursday to announce that the ‘master plan’ would guarantee that all California kids, parents and communities will have increased access to mental health and substance use services.

Already in place is the Children’s Mental Health Resources Hub, which offers kids and parents a variety of resources, including several support hotlines, CalHOPE and informational guides on suicide and depression warning signs.
