SCE detected 'circuit activity' near source of Fairview Fire
HEMET – (INT) – Southern California Edison (SCE) has informed the California Public Utilities Commission (PUC) that it is investigating whether its equipment may have been involved near the origin of the Fairview Fire in East Hemet.

The advisory was time-stamped just hours after the Labor Day fire was reported and read:

“Out of an abundance of caution, SCE submits this report as it involves an event that may meet the significant public attention and/or media coverage reporting requirement. The Fairview Fire was reported at 3:37 p.m. in the Hemet area. The cause of the fire is under investigation. News reports reflect some structures have been damaged/destroyed. Our information reflects circuit activity occurred close in time to the report time of the fire. The investigation is ongoing.”

SCE did not define the nature of ‘circuit activity’.

There were gusty east winds at the time of the fire and temperatures were above 100 degrees.
