Islands in Fairview Fire smolder
EAST HEMET – (INT) – Getting a solid containment line around the remains of Riverside County’s Fairview Fire is almost complete.

A few spots within the fire's 28,307 acre perimeter are still smoldering and must be extinguished to avoid the fire rekindling itself.

Twenty-one homes and buildings were destroyed and another 21 damaged in the initial stages of the nearly 2-week-old fire.

CalFire continues to investigate the cause and the deaths of two people who perished in the fast-moving blaze on Labor Day.
