Suspension in outdoor irrigation lifted
LOS ANGELES – (INT) – Limited outdoor watering has resumed in parts of Los Angeles after urgent repairs were completed Monday on a major pipeline ahead of schedule.

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California discovered a leak in the Upper Feeder Pipeline in April and a temporary fix was immediately put into place, allowing time to fabricate specialized parts for a longer-term fix.

The MWD is urging voluntary conservation because of severely limited water supplies during the ongoing drought.

Spigots along the State Water Project are at a drip and groundwater supplies are running low.

The MWD asked that 4 million customers in Los Angeles County suspend outdoor watering beginning September 6th.

Cities affected included Beverly Hills, Burbank, Glendale, Long Beach, Pasadena, San Fernando, and Torrance, as well as Central Basin Municipal Water District, Foothill Municipal Water District, Three Valleys Municipal Water District and West Basin Municipal Water District.
