Self-admitted Capitol insurrectionist faces sentencing
WASHINGTON – (INT) – A Riverside man pleaded guilty Wednesday September 21st for his role in the January 6th insurrection of the U.S. Capitol Building.

According to court documents, Andrew Alan Hernandez, 45, was carrying a backpack and a U.S. flag on a pole with a camera attached when he joined a crowd pushing through the East Rotunda Door. He eventually reached the Senate Gallery where the counting of electoral votes related to the 2020 presidential election was taking place. Hernandez snapped ‘selfies’ along the way.

Hernandez was arrested several weeks later in Riverside. He pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting in the obstruction of an official proceeding. That could get him a federal prison term and potential financial penalties at his sentencing January 27th, 2023.
