Gala Thanksgiving parade displaces nation’s worries
NEW YORK CITY - The 96th-annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City made a spectacular return.

Crowds gathered by the thousands to watch cowgirls pirouette along Central Park drenched in glorious sunlight, giant clowns pass office windows, and famous faces wave from flotillas.

Spectators tossed confetti as the parade made its way down Central Park West. The annual Macy's parade included 16 giant character balloons, 28 floats, and 12 marching bands.

This year's parade debuted three new balloons, including Bluey, from the hit Australian show, Stuart the Minion and 'Striker the U.S. Soccer Star' in honor of the FIFA World Cup.

More than 2.5 million spectators came out for the extravaganza.
