Inflation sets egg smugglers into action
TEMECULA – (INT) – Smugglers crossing the border and headed up the I-15 into the Inland Empire may have more than illegal drugs in their vehicles.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection says with egg prices soaring, more Americans are crossing into Mexico to buy the food item and then sneaking cartons of raw eggs into the US.

"We are seeing an increase in people attempting to cross eggs because they are significantly less expensive in Mexico than the U.S.," U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman Roger Maier said.

Maier notes “It’s occurring with added frequency at Southwest border locations”.
