HOLLYWOOD - “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” is buzzing at the box office, beating expectations and scoring by far the biggest opening weekend in the pint-sized Marvel trilogy.

The superhero adventure stars Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly as the titular heroes.

“Ant-Man 3” tops the box office charts over another otherworldly adventure. James Cameron’s enduring blockbuster “Avatar: The Way of Water,” stayed in second place in its 10th week of release, Variety reported.

At No. 3, the animated sequel “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” has also remained surprisingly strong.

The previous week’s champ “Magic Mike’s Last Dance” dropped to fourth place.

“Knock at the Cabin” rounded out the top five. The latest psychological thriller from M. Night Shyamalan has generated $30.9 million to date.
