Police slaying at Big Bear to get state probe
BIG BEAR – (INT) – Another deadly officer-involved shooting in the Inland Empire will be independently investigated by the California Department of Justice.

Sunday’s incident occurred at Big Bear at the climax to a short pursuit by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department around 2am Sunday.

According to a sheriff’s statement, a 34-year-old man being sought on an arrest warrant led deputies on a pursuit into the Sugarloaf area. When the chase ended on a dead end road, the motorist got out of his vehicle and was shot dead.

His identity was not immediately released.

The Department of Justice intervenes under Assembly Bill 1506 when it was determined that the decedent was not armed.
