Closure maintained for San Bernardino National Forest
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) – Two days after it was reopened earlier this month, there is a partial closure of the San Bernardino National Forest.

Damages inflicted by the February and March snowstorms in remote areas are becoming more apparent.

Severe erosion, rockslides and blown down trees have impacted forest roads and infrastructure. Other unknown obstacles are hidden under blankets of deep snow, the Forest Service reported Saturday March 18th.

Some secondary roads have been cleared, but the Forest Service said “in light of persistent storm damage”, others will remain closed until June 30th. The only exceptions will be granted to individuals with a Forest Service Permit, fire agencies and law enforcement.

State highways and county-maintained roads will remain open, weather permitting.
