Wrong-way Route 71 crash victims identified
CHINO – (INT) – There were no survivors in two cars that collided head-on early Sunday on freeway 71 in Chino Hills.

One of the two vehicles burst into flames. Video showed a California Highway Patrol officer trying to extinguish the inferno with a hand-held fire extinguisher but was driven back by the intense flames.

Each vehicle had two occupants.

Two of the victims were identified Monday as Ruth Mulisa Wambusa, 38, and Gedion Mbatha Mutuka, 43, both of Lake Elsinore.

CHP investigators were trying to determine which driver was going the wrong way while the coroner was working on identifying the dead.
