Jailhouse deaths on the rise
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – A rash of in-custody deaths is growing.

An inmate at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga died Sunday March 19th.

Three days earlier, the male prisoner was found suffering from a medical issue. He was hospitalized and died of ‘numerous illnesses’, according to a statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

The inmate had been in custody for more than 2-years. He’d been arrested by San Bernardino police on suspicion of felony vandalism.

The prisoner was the latest in a series of jailhouse deaths in both San Bernardino and Riverside counties.

Causes of their deaths and their identities are not routinely released.
