Alleged church shooter charged with hate crimes
SANTA ANA – (INT) – Ninety-eight counts of hate crimes and weapons and explosives offenses have been filed in the attempted bombing of the Taiwanese Presbyterian Church in Irvine.

David Chou, 69, was indicted Wednesday May 10th by a federal grand jury in Santa Ana.

Last year, Chou carried firearms and explosive devices into the Taiwanese Presbyterian Church. He allegedly killed one person, wounded five others and endangered the lives of forty-four more.

Federal prosecutors say Chou acted because of the victims’ national origin and religion, and he intentionally obstructed the victims’ religious exercise.
