NorCal earthquake aftershocks are fading
CHICO – (INT) – The intensity of the aftershocks from Thursday’s M5.5 earthquake is diminishing.

A strong M5.2 struck Friday in Plumas County about 4-miles deep near the town of East Shore on Lake Almanor. The USGS reported it was felt as far away at Redding and San Francisco. East Shore is about 80 miles east of Chico. It’s the same area as the Dixie fire that flared in 2021.

Since the main event, there have been about two dozen aftershocks of M2.5 or greater.

In Southern California, an unrelated M2.8 earthquake struck Friday northeast of Cabazon. It went unnoticed by most people.

Over the past 4-years in California, there have been the magnitude 7.1 Ridgecrest earthquake in 2019 and the magnitude 6.4 Ferndale quake in 2022. Both caused moderate damage.
