PERRIS – (INT) – The Perris-based Val Verde Unified School District is disclosing a data breach of its computer network that included “certain individual’s names and personally identifiable information.”

The disruption caused by an “encryption event’ occurred between January 22nd and May 10th of last year.

In its announcement Friday, the district said it has secured its network, engaged a third-party forensic firm to investigate and notified the FBI.

Potentially-affected residents and being notified by direct mail and Val Verde’s website. So far, there is no evidence of actual or attempted misuse of information as a result of the incident.

A call center has been set up to answer questions and to address related concerns. The call center is available Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm at 1-888-567-0289.
