Fourth Riverside County sheriff’s deputy killed in 5-months
SAN JACINTO – (INT) – Riverside County sheriff’s deputy Brett Harris has lost his battle for life.

Sheriff-Coroner Chad Bianco said Sunday that Deputy Harris, 26, died of a catastrophic brain injury he suffered while responding to a call for service in San Jacinto early Friday. His patrol vehicle collided with a sedan at an intersection and then impacted a signal light. Another deputy was slightly hurt pulling Harris from the wreckage.

The other driver escaped with minor injuries.

It wasn’t clear which driver had the right-of-way or if the deputy’s Code 2 lights were flashing.

Deputy Harris served with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office for four years.

Deputy Harris survived by his wife, parents, a twin sister and a brother.

He was the fourth deputy killed in Riverside County the past 5-months. Three were on-duty and the fourth perished last month in a motorcycle accident in Riverside.
