Census: Where are the fastest-growing cities?
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – New population estimates show that Riverside was the second-fastest-growing large city in California between 2021 and 2022.

With a gain of 2-point-2 percent, Riverside has become California’s 12th largest city, according to the US Census Bureau.

Riverside added nearly 7-thousand residents. Only Irvine’s 2-point-8 percent growth rate was higher.

On the negative side, San Jose and Oakland declined the fastest.

Nationwide, nine of the nation’s 15 fastest-growing cities were in the South. Six were in Texas.

New York remained the nation’s largest city, despite its recent population decline. At 8.3 million, its population was more than twice that of the next largest city, Los Angeles, with a population of nearly 4 million.
