Donna and Jon Croel, new residents of Palm Springs, were so captivated by the Plaza Theatre restoration project that they gave $2 million as a matching grant. Built in 1936, the building was used for film premieres and screenings, nationally broadcast radio theatre programs, and other performances including “The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies.” (INT)
