Hilary’s damage estimates mounting up
FOREST FALLS – (INT) – Damage inflicted by Tropical Storm Hilary in San Bernardino County last month has been added up and it’s estimated at 26-million dollars.

Damage assessment teams made stops at some of the most impacted areas including Calico, Forest Falls, Morongo Basin, Oak Glen, Phelan, Wrightwood and Yucaipa. Repairs are needed for bridges, roads, infrastructure, water basins and more.

The estimate is used to determine if there is sufficient damage to qualify for state and federal funding assistance.

In neighboring Riverside County, damage from Tropical Storm Hilary was estimated at 126-million dollars, mostly in the Coachella Valley.

The storm killed one person when flash flooding destroyed a small home at Angelus Oaks. A woman is missing and presumed dead.
