Property owners get weed abatement warnings
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) – The annual ‘green up’ has flourished across the Inland Empire and that means that weed abatement can’t be far behind.

The San Bernardino County Code Enforcement Fire Hazard Abatement Team will initiate its seasonal inspections for defensible space in the valley region.

Code Enforcement Chief Ignacio Nunez has a safety message. “Keeping properties free of overgrown weeds, grasses, shrubs, dead vegetation and combustible debris creates a buffer zone that can slow or halt the spread of fire to homes,” he said.

Fire inspectors will cover various county unincorporated areas, and the cities of Highland, Yucaipa, Grand Terrace and the foothills and vacant lots in San Bernardino.

Should an Abatement Notice be issued, property owners will have a 30-day grace period to correct the hazard.
