DOJ investigates officer-involved shooting HESPERIA – (INT) – The California Department of Justice (DOJ) will investigate a deadly officer-involved shooting in Hesperia that claimed the life of a man suspected in a case of domestic violence.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBSD) broke its silence Tuesday about the March 23rd incident that capped a high speed chase. It was initiated by Keith Vinyard, 52, who’d been sought on a felony arrest warrant. According to a statement from the SBSD, Vinyard “armed himself with a large metal object” and threatened to shoot a deputy who responded with lethal gunfire. The large metal object was not identified. The DOJ assumes an officer-involved investigation when an incident results in the death of an unarmed civilian. Story Date: April 5, 2024
